GHSS ATHAVANAD was established in 1974 and it is managed by the Department of Education, Government of Kerala. The institution is located in the rural province of Athavanad Panchayath under KUTTIPURAM block of MALAPPURAM district, Kerala. The HSS offers Plus one and Plus two courses under various streams like Science (Biology), Science (Computer Science), Commerce (Political Science), Commerce (Computer Applications) and Humanities. The school is Co-educational and it doesn't have an attached pre-primary section. Bhoomithra Sena Club of GHSS Athavanad got approval in 2021 and it is actively engaged in creating environmental awareness among the students and community and also implemented various activities in connection with environment protection.
