Bhoomithrasena club of St. Antony's HSS Poonjar is an army of nature lovers who stands for and strives for nature. The primary aim is to make students practice and advocate sustainable life styles. The club also provides awareness on global environmental challenges and developing means to overcome the problems.

Activities

  • The program aims to enhance the biodiversity and ecological balance of the school pond by introducing baby fish species into the ecosystem. Through hands-on participation, students will learn about aquatic habitats, biodiversity conservation, and the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems. By actively involving students in the enhancement of the pond ecosystem, the initiative aims to promote environmental awareness, and inspire future conservation efforts within the school community.
  • The program aims to empower school students to take proactive steps in maintaining cleanliness and promoting environmental stewardship within their school campus and surrounding public spaces. Through organized clean-up activities, the program intends to instill a sense of responsibility and pride in students towards their environment while fostering a cleaner and healthier community.
  • The project seeks to provide students with enriching educational experiences by immersing them in hands-on activities within the school garden. This includes understanding essential concepts related to plant life cycles, ecosystems, and the significance of environmental sustainability. The initiative aims to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the school campus by creating an attractive and vibrant garden space. This not only contributes to the visual beauty of the environment but also serves as an inspiring backdrop for educational endeavors.
  • The project is dedicated to cultivate a school garden that yields poison and toxic-free vegetables. Our primary goal is to educate students on the importance of growing food without harmful chemicals. By implementing organic and sustainable gardening practices, we aim to create a safe and healthy environment where students can witness the growth of vegetables free from pesticides and toxins. This initiative not only promotes a deeper understanding of sustainable agriculture but also encourages a commitment to producing wholesome, nutritious produce for our school community.
  • The main goal of our project is to build a special greenhouse on the school campus. This greenhouse, called a polyhouse, will allow us to grow vegetables throughout the entire year, no matter the weather outside. We also want to make sure that students learn from this experience. We'll include lessons about how to grow plants in the polyhouse, why it's important for the environment, and how to take care of the vegetables. Our aim is not just to grow vegetables but also to do it in a way that's good for the environment. We'll use modern techniques to save water, and we'll avoid harmful chemicals, opting for natural ways to help our plants thrive. Ultimately, we want our polyhouse to be a learning hub for sustainable and year-round vegetable cultivation.
