World Environment Day at MVGOVT.HSS PEROOR,KOLLAM


World Environment Day Celebration - 2023

On June 5, 2023, the Bhoomitra Sena Club of Meenakshi Vilasom Govt HSS Peroor celebrated World Environment Day with a series of impactful activities. The theme was "Only One Earth," focusing on "Beat Plastic Pollution."


The celebration started with planting 10 trees around the school, showing a strong commitment to the environment. Principal Smt. Renuka V R opened the event by talking about the serious effects of plastic pollution. PTA President Sri Nasim emphasized the need to tackle environmental challenges together.


Key participants included the Head Mistress Mrs. Sheena, Senior Assistant Smt. Manju A S, faculty members Mr. Johnson T, Mrs. Cereena, Mrs. Jebin Tiny, Mrs. Biji, Bhoomitra Sena Club Convenor Mrs. Mini, and Mrs. Mayadevi. Their involvement made the event a success.


Special guests such as Sri N S Prasanna Kumar, Chairman of the Kollam District Panchayat Standing Committee for the Kottamkara ward, Ward Member Sri Arjunnan Pillai, Vice President of the Block Panchayath Sri H Hussain, and SMC Chairman Sri Midilaj attended the event, highlighting the importance of environmental care.


Sri Gopakumar, HST Music and Poet, recited a poem about protecting the environment. Students of XII performed a flash mob about fighting plastic pollution. Competitions like slogan writing, poster making, elocution, and photography encouraged students to appreciate nature. The best nature photographs were displayed in the auditorium.


Students pledged to protect nature, acknowledging their role as guardians of the planet. The Bhoomitra Sena Club collected and reused plastic covers to grow vegetable seeds, supporting the school’s organic garden and promoting sustainability.


The 2023 World Environment Day celebration called for collective action towards a greener future. Through advocacy, education, and practical steps, the Bhoomitra Sena Club showed its dedication to environmental conservation, inspiring the school community and beyond to live in harmony with nature.
