Nature Education Camp At Peechi at Panampilly Memorial College Chalakudy
The Bhoomithrasena Club of Panampilly Memorial Govt. College, Chalakudy, organized a one-day Paid Nature Education Camp at Peechi Wildlife Sanctuary on 28th February 2025, with 23 student volunteers and two faculty members. The camp included a visit to Peechi Dam, a 4 km guided trek through the sanctuary,During the trek, BFO Nikhil provided valuable insights into the wildlife, trees, medicinal plants, and birds found in the sanctuary. He also discussed about the tribal communities residing in the forest and how they depend on forest resources for their livelihoodand and conservation efforts.This session enhanced our understanding of the coexistence of humans and nature.Participants gained insights into the region’s flora, fauna, and tribal communities, enhancing their understanding of ecological balance. The day concluded with a museum visit and an engaging lecture by the Wildlife Warden on forests, conservation efforts, and biodiversity. His engaging discussion enriched our knowledge about the importance of forests and the necessity of conservation.
