E-Waste Collection and Management at All Saints' College, Thiruvananthapuram
Report of the E-Waste Collection Drive conducted from 24.06.2024 to 29.06.2024
An electronic waste collection drive was conducted by the Bhoomitra Sena Club of All Saints College and the Department of Environmental Sciences from 24.06.2024 to 29.04.2024 in collaboration with Young Indians, an NGO. The objective of the collection drive was to reduce the e-waste footprint of the faculty and students of the institution and to do our part in making this planet greener and cleaner. The tie-up was made with a recovery company in Bangalore that scientifically recovers recyclables from electronic waste and manages the non-recyclables. Members of teaching and non-teaching faculty and the people from the locality brought electronic waste from their households and the organizers collected it in bins from Monday to Friday. On Saturday, a team from Young Indians came to the institution, segregated various kinds of waste, counted and weighed the collected waste, and took it for further processes.
