Program Objectives: 

The program, part of a social extension initiative, aimed to raise students' awareness of the negative aspects of plastic waste pollution and littering.

About the Program:

Dr. Rohini Krishna M V (Assistant Professor and HOD, Department of Zoology and Coordinator of Women’s Study Unit). The College Principal, Dr M J Sheeba, Dr Mumthas Y (Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology and Coordinator of Environmental Club and Bhoomitrasena Club, Dr Jasin Rahman. V.K. (Assistant Professor, Dept of Zoology and Bhoomitra Sena Club Joint Coordinator), and Smt Stephy Chacko (Jeevani psychology on contract) participated in the programme and gave guidance to the students.

On February 21st a flash mob was organised in the college auditorium featuring the “Malinyamuktham navakeralam” theme song and during the end of the song the students displayed placards to spread awareness against littering and featuring environmental conservation.

 On February 24th Dr Rohini Krishna M V, Dr Mumthas. Y along with first-year students from the Department of Zoology visited nearby shops and made them aware of the importance of minimizing the usage of plastic and preventing the littering of premises.



The outcome of the Program:

 This program exemplifies how academic institutions like TKM College of Arts and Science can extend their expertise to society through social extension activities. By enforcing programmes like Malinyamuktham Navakeralam, we strengthen our outreach and ensure that such initiatives are not just limited to campus but benefit the wider community.
