SUSTAINABLE CELEBRATIONS AT STC ON THE OCCASION OF FOUNDRESS’ DAY at St. Teresa's College (Autonomous), Ernakulam


St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, renowned for its excellence in education and commitment to social and environmental causes, celebrated its Foundress’ Day on 29 January 2025. The celebration was significant, showcasing the institution’s dedication to community welfare and sustainability.

As part of the birthday celebration of the Foundress Mother Teresa, St Rose of Lima, the Bhoomitrasena Club and the Green Protocol Team monitored the distribution of food to more than 6,000 individuals undertaken by the college. This effort aligned with the institution’s commitment to environmental sustainability, pressing the importance of eco-friendly practices. The event strictly followed the Green Protocol by using biodegradable and reusable plates and glasses. Through this event, BMC and the Green Protocol Team set a benchmark in sustainable event management while ensuring a responsible celebration.

In partnership with the Kochi Municipal Corporation, the college reinforced its dedication to promoting sustainability in solidarity with the state government’s Malinya Mukta Nava Kerala campaign. This collaboration underlined the importance of collective efforts in achieving environmental goals and impacting society positively. A dedicated team of faculty and student coordinators of the BMC team spearheaded the event. It was coordinated by faculty members Dr Arya P Mohan and Ms Veena Antony, along with student leaders Praveena Meenakshi and Riya Reji of BCA, CT & ISM. Their collective efforts ensure the success of the event while upholding the values and vision of St. Teresa’s College. The Foundress, Day celebration reflected the institution’s vision for a sustainable future, more than just being a college event. By prioritizing eco-friendly practices and engaging the community, the college inspired the community to adopt similar initiatives. Through this event, St. Teresa’s College set an example of how educational institutions can lead the way, combining community service with environmental stewardship and ensuring a brighter and greener tomorrow.
