Wetland Visit and Nature Camp (Pathiramanal Visit) at CMS College Kottayam (Autonomous))
In order to create awareness about conservation, a field trip and nature study camp was conducted to Pathiramanal island, Vembanad Lake on 22-03-2025. A total of 42 BMC members were participated in the Programme. The programme started at 9.30 am from Kumarakom. Kerala State Water Authority provided the transportation at a discount rate. The members reached the destination at 10.40 am and Dr. Hari N., Professor of Botany led the session on Wetland Conservation with special reference to mangroves. The members visited different parts of the island and studied the special features of the particular ecosystem associated with the Pathiramanal island. Members also engaged in collecting plastic bottles/ other plastic waste materials and deposited in allotted areas of waste deposition. The team departed from the island at 1.30 PM and reached Kumarakom at 2.30 PM. After the lunch, a short visit was conducted to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. The team departed from Kumarakom at 4.30 PM.
