The event was organized to create awareness on plastic free Christmas celebration at home.

Green is the way to celebrate festivals in these days of climate emergency, but not everyone takes the effort for it. However, Nature club members found ways to make this year Christmas with a new thought and also help society do the same in eco-friendly manner. Rithu members of Naipunnya School of Management organized an event on 22nd Dec 2023 titled the ‘Green Christmas Carnival’ with the motive to ‘Think Clean and Go Green, Go Green to Keep the World Clean’.

The event was first of its kind within our campus supported by all students, teaching and non-teaching staff with great excitement. All the Rithu volunteers dressed up with green cap and Santa clause were also dressed up in green dress to motivate others keeping in mind to create awareness on to celebrate Christmas in eco-friendly manner with reduced usage of plastic.

The Green Christmas Carnival was inaugurated by honourable Principal of the Institution Rev. Fr. Baiju George Ponthempilly who congratulated all the Club members for coming up with creative idea to impart message for a social cause to the local community.

The Programme started with carol song led by Bhoomithrasena Members and a Santa with green costume was present in the function who distributed a Cloth bag to the Rev. Fr. Baiju George Ponthempilly, principal as a representation to contribute towards a green environment.

Thereafter the carol band lead by green Santa, and volunteers of club visited the neighbourhood houses and distributed the cloth bag with the message on celebrating Plastic free Christmas.

The response to these green decors has been quite encouraging and we hope more people would turn to eco-friendly celebrations in the future with less usage of plastic.
