Vanyathayude Gambheeryavum Jalasamrudhiyum- Celebration of World Tiger Day 2024 at CMS College Kottayam (Autonomous))
A seminar was conducted on 29-07-2024 as part of the International Tiger Day by Bhoomitrasena Club and the Department of Botany , CMS College Kottayam. The programme was sponsored by Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala. The seminar was on the topic "വന്യതയുടെഗാംഭീര്യവുംജലസമൃദ്ധിയും" .The theme of International Tiger day 2024 was 'call for action'.The theme highlights the importance of concerted efforts from the global community to save the endangered Tiger species on earth. 85 members of Bhoomitrasena Club and faculties of Department of Botany were part of the seminar. Dr Hari N ,Associate Professor of Botany Department delivered the welcome address. Principal of CMS College, Dr.Anju Sosan George conveyed the presidential address. The BMC Coordinator, Dr.Rogimon P. Thomas introduced the keynote speaker. The key note address was delivered by Mr Jithendranath UM , Section Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, Kottayam.The session was very clear and understandable. It was helpful in raising awareness about the rapid decline in the tiger population and promoting efforts to preserve and restore tiger habitats. The session was able to highlight that all the water sources we need come from the forest, and it is essential to protect and maintain animals like tigers in the wild. Ms. Devananda P Menon student of 2nd DC Botany delivered the vote of thanks. Refreshments were served at the end of the session. It is strongly believed that the seminar was able to create an awareness about the respective topic that were discussed about.
