Symposia on Eco Wisdom at PROVIDENCE WOMEN'S COLLEGE

The Symposia on Eco Wisdom was successfully conducted on 21st March 2025 in observance of the International Day of Forests. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, researchers, environmental activists, and representatives from NGOs and government agencies.

The primary objective of the symposium was to raise awareness on forest conservation by highlighting the ecological significance of forests, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and environmental responsibility.

Throughout the sessions, expert speakers addressed vital themes including:

  • The ecological and economic roles of forests,
  • Climate resilience through forest ecosystems,
  • Community-based forest management strategies,
  • Integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in environmental planning.

Interactive panel discussions encouraged policy and action-oriented dialogues, offering participants a platform to deliberate on conservation strategies at both grassroots and policy levels. The event also featured poster presentations and a sustainability pledge ceremony led by student volunteers.

Outcomes Achieved:

  • Increased Awareness: Participants gained enhanced insights into forest-based ecosystems, biodiversity, and their role in climate regulation.
  • Eco-Conscious Practices: Several attendees expressed commitment to reducing their ecological footprint and promoting sustainable practices on campus and in their communities.
  • Knowledge Dissemination: Students and faculty members pledged to share their learnings through academic forums, awareness drives, and social media outreach.
  • Strengthened Networks: The symposium led to the formation of a collaborative platform connecting academic institutions, local environmental NGOs, and conservation bodies.
  • Community Initiatives: Immediate post-event actions included a student-led tree plantation drive, a proposal for forming an Eco Club, and plans for regular biodiversity surveys and green audits.

The Symposia on Eco Wisdom not only achieved its intended educational objectives but also served as a catalyst for future initiatives centered around sustainability and environmental stewardship.
