Beach clean-up program at DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF KERALA
Beach clean-up program. (St. Andrews beach Menamkulam, Thiruvananthapuram)
The Bhoomithrasena club, a dedicated environmental organization of our campus, organized a beach clean-up program to address the escalating issue of marine debris. we were conducted at St. Andrews beach Menamkulam, Kadinamkulam grama panchayath. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and volunteers from the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Kerala Kariavattom Campus.
Participants were divided into teams and provided with gloves, trash bags, and other necessary equipment. A large amount of waste was collected during the event, highlighting the magnitude of marine pollution the ordered plastic waste handover to the Haritha Karmasena, Kadinamkulam Gramapanchayath.
The success of the beach clean-up program was only possible with the dedicated efforts of the Bhoomithrasena club members, volunteers, and the support of our HoD, Dr. Sherly Williams, FIC, Dr. Bindhya and Anoop S (student) Department of the Environmental Sciences University of Kerala. Special thanks are extended to Kadinamkulam Grama Panchayath, the secretory, and the ward member for their support in making the event successful.
