Field Visit (Eco Visit) Thenmala Eco Tourism Destination at MVGOVT.HSS PEROOR,KOLLAM

On January 12, 2024, the Bhoomitra Sena Club organized a one-day eco-visit to Thenmala Eco Tourism Destination in Kollam district, Kerala. Thenmala, known as India’s first eco-tourism project, is located at the base of the Western Ghats.

A group of 50 students and 3 teachers started their journey from MVGHSS at 6:30 AM. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the way and had a filling breakfast en route. And reached Thenmala by 9:30 AM, welcomed by its peaceful environment.

The visit began with a walk through the well-preserved area, surrounded by lush greenery. The main attraction was the Deer Park, home to various deer species like spotted deer, sambar deer, and barking deer. We also visited the Deer Rehabilitation Centre, which cares for these animals after they leave their natural habitats.

The trip was not only enjoyable but also educational. It provided insights into eco-tourism and sustainable practices at Thenmala. The students learned about the importance of balancing human activities with environmental conservation.

The experience deepened their connection with nature and instilled a sense of responsibility to protect it. The visit inspired them to promote sustainable living in their communities.

In conclusion, the field visit to Thenmala was a great success, leaving a lasting impact on everyone. The students and teachers returned with new knowledge and a stronger commitment to preserving the natural world.
