The Bhoomitrasena Club of Meenakshi Vilasom Govt HSS Peroor organized a one-day eco-visit to Thenmala Eco Tourism Destination, India’s first eco-tourism project, to promote environmental awareness and sustainable tourism practices.

  • Journey and Arrival:
  • The group departed from the school at 6:30 AM, enjoying scenic views along the way.
  • They had a filling breakfast en route and arrived at Thenmala by 9:30 AM, greeted by the tranquil, green surroundings.
  • Exploration and Activities:
  • The visit began with a nature walk through the well-preserved area, offering students a chance to immerse themselves in the lush greenery.
  • The main attraction was the Deer Park, home to different deer species, including:
  • Spotted deer
  • Sambar deer
  • Barking deer
  • Students also visited the Deer Rehabilitation Centre, which cares for deer that have left their natural habitats, promoting wildlife conservation.

  • The trip provided valuable lessons on eco-tourism, highlighting the importance of balancing human activities with nature conservation.
  • Students gained practical knowledge about sustainable practices and the need for environmental protection.
