Asian Waterbird Census at Cherumukk - Venjali Wetlands at PSMO College, Tirurangadi
In collaboration with Kerala Forests and Wildlife, Social Forestry Division, Malappuram Birders, Kerala Bird Atlas and Cherumukk Nattukaryam Koottaima, BMC PSMO College organized a Bird Survey at Cherumukk-Venjali Wetlands on 5 January 2025. The survey was organized in connection with Asian Waterbird Census (AWC)2025. Cherumukk-Venjali Wetlands is an ecologically significant birding hotspot near PSMO College. The Survey was inaugurated by Mr. P.S. Muhammed Nishal, RFO, Social Forestry Division, Malappuram. VP Khadar Haji, President of Cherumukk Nattukaryam Koottaima, presided over the inaugural session.
Eminent birders like Nabeel Parappanangadi, Kabeerali P, Swaroop, Shameem, Afnidha, Faisal, Manoj, Rahman Wandoor, Rajesh, Razeen and Sinan led different teams in the survey. 69 species of birds were identified in the bird survey.
