The Three Day Exhibition for Biodiversity Conservation and Vanasree Value Added Products took place from January 6th to 8th, 2025 at the Auditorium of TKM College of Arts and Science, Kollam. This event was organized by the Social Forestry Extension Unit, Southern Region, Department of Forest, Kerala, in association with the Bhoomithrasena Club, Environment Club, and Department of Zoology. The exhibition aimed to raise awareness about biodiversity conservation and promote Vanasree value-added products, which are eco-friendly products derived from forest resources. Various stalls and interactive sessions were set up to educate visitors about the importance of preserving biodiversity and the benefits of using sustainable forest products.

Exhibition Detail Report

TKM College of Arts and Science organized a three-day social exhibition under the joint auspices of Bhoomithra Sena Club, Department of Zoology and Environmental club in collaboration with Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department as part of Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The program aimed to create awareness among the public and students about the importance of biodiversity conservation.

As part of the exhibition, an exhibition showcasing the Significance of the Western Ghats was organized. Exhibition and sale of Vanashree Value Added Products, Medicinal Plants, Ornamental Plants and Hybrid Fruits were held. As a part of the Earn while Learn project, Ali Gardens introduced Hybrid Plant Cultivation Techniques like budding, layering, grafting and fertilization. Assistant Conservator of Forest Mr. Koshi John, Section Forest Officer Mr. Abhilash handed over various Vanashree value added products to the dignitaries. Overall, the exhibition exposed the importance of biodiversity conservation and increased its demand among people through self-sufficiency projects. 

Important features of the program:

  • Showcasing the importance of the Western Ghats
  • Exhibition and sale of essential Vanasree value added products, medicinal plants, ornamental plants and hybrids
  • Presentation of hybrid plant propagation techniques like budding, layering, grafting and fertilization
  • Distribution of various awards

This exhibition was successful because it made people more active towards biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.
