Inauguration of Butterfly Park – Report

The Butterfly Park at Government Arts & Science College, Calicut, was inaugurated by the Honorable Kerala State Minister for Forests and Wildlife, Sri A.K. Saseendran, at 10:30 a.m. on September 10, 2024. The park, funded by the Social Forestry Northern Division of the Kerala Forest Department, was a project personally approved by the Minister. The construction of the park was completed expeditiously.

The inauguration ceremony was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Abdul Gafoor P, FIC, Kannanthali Bhoomithrasena, and Nature Club. Dr. Priya P, Principal of the college, presided over the function. Sri A.K. Saseendran unveiled the foundation stone of the park. Smt. R. Keerthi, IFS, Conservator of Forests for the Social Forestry Division, North Zone, delivered the keynote address.

Kozhikode Corporation Councilor Smt. Remya Santhosh attended the event. Sri A.P. Imthiyas, Assistant Forest Conservator, Social Forestry Division, Kozhikode, Kum. Nidhi N. Anil, Vice-Chairperson of the College Union, and Dr. Moncy Mathew, Vice-Principal of the college, also participated in the function. Smt. Sathyaprabha, Assistant Forest Conservator, delivered the vote of thanks.
