Green Christmas Campaign at Naipunnya School of Management, Cherthala
The event was organised to create awareness on plastic free Christmas celebration at home.
Green is the way to celebrate festivals in these days of climate emergency, but not everyone takes the effort for it. However, Nature club members found ways to make this year Christmas with a new thought and also help society do the same in eco-friendly manner. Rithu members of Naipunnya School of Management organized an event on 19th Dec 2024 titled the ‘Green Christmas Campaign’ with the motive to ‘Think Clean and Go Green, Go Green to Keep the World Clean’.
The event was first of its kind within our campus supported by all students, teaching and non-teaching staff with great excitement. All the Rithu volunteers dressed up with green cap and Santa clause were also dressed up in green dress to motivate others keeping in mind to create awareness on to celebrate Christmas in eco-friendly manner with reduced usage of plastic.
The Green Christmas Carnival was inaugurated by honourable Director of the Institution Rev. Fr. Varghese Palatty who congratulated all the Club members for coming up with the creative idea to impart message for a social cause to the local community.
The Programme started with a flash mob led by Bhoomithrasena Members at college premises and later a Santa in green costume who was present at the function distributed a Christmas Card with a message on plastic–free celebration designed by club members to the Rev. Fr. Varghese Palatty, Director as a representation to contribute towards a green environment within the campus.
Thereafter the green carnival band lead by green Santa, and volunteers of the club visited the Cherthala KSRTC bus station and distributed the Christmas Card with the message of celebrating a Plastic-free Christmas and performed the flash mob. Later club Coordinator, Mr. Renju Chandran spoke to the local community present at the bus station regarding importance of plastic-free celebrations in our day-to-day life. He also thanked the KSRTC officials for allowing the club members to organise the event.
The response to these green decors has been quite encouraging and we hope more people would turn to eco-friendly celebrations in the future with less usage of plastic. The event received an overwhelmingly positive response. Attendees appreciated the innovative approach to celebrating Christmas and expressed their willingness to adopt similar practices in their households.
