E-WASTE MANAGEMENT at KKTM GOVT COLLEGE PULLUT


Bhoomitrasena, in association with the IQAC and the Department of Zoology organized an insightful seminar on E-Waste Management at KKTM Government College, Pullut, Thrissur, on the 24th of March, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the growing concerns surrounding electronic waste and the sustainable practices required for its management.

The seminar commenced at 10:30 AM in the Zoology Laboratory with an inaugural address by Prof. (Dr.) Bindu Sharmila T. K., the esteemed Principal of the college. In her address, she emphasized the urgency of addressing the increasing accumulation of electronic waste and the responsibility of educational institutions in promoting sustainable practices.

The keynote session was delivered by the resource person Unnikrishnan V. S., a renowned expert and resource person from KILA (Kerala Institute of Local Administration). He provided a comprehensive overview of e-waste, highlighting its environmental and health hazards. His session covered crucial aspects such as the classification of e-waste, disposal techniques, recycling methods, and policies for proper e-waste management. The interactive session allowed students and faculty members to engage in discussions regarding innovative solutions to mitigate the risks posed by e-waste accumulation.

The event was effectively coordinated by Soumya K. C., the Coordinator of Bhoomitrasena, whose efforts ensured smooth execution and active participation from students and faculty. The seminar was further supported by Shri. Prasad N K Assistant Professor of the Department of Zoology, who reinforced the importance of environmental consciousness among students and encouraged them to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Anton Jo Raison, member Bhooomitrasena, acknowledging the contributions of the distinguished speakers, faculty members, and students who participated in the event. The session provided valuable insights into the pressing issue of e-waste and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in managing this growing environmental challenge. The attendees left with a renewed sense of responsibility towards adopting sustainable waste disposal habits and promoting eco-friendly technological practices.
