Nature walk into Biodiversity Spot at Mahatma Gandhi Collge,Iritty
On March 21, 2025, to commemorate World Forest Day, a nature walk was organized at the Poonkottukavu Forest to raise awareness about biodiversity conservation and the importance of forests.
The walk included participation from 13 students, two teachers, and was guided by naturalist Mr. Biju T., who expertly conducted a session focusing on the unique biodiversity of the Poonkottukavu Forest and broader conservation themes. During the session, Mr. Biju highlighted the rich variety of flora and fauna found in the forest, emphasizing the ecological roles these species play in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. He also addressed current challenges such as habitat loss and human impact, stressing the need for sustainable conservation practices. The students and teachers actively engaged with the session, asking questions and sharing observations throughout the walk. Also a cleaning process was conducted in the forest.
