Auditing of Existing Waste Management Facilities in the State Site 2 at Payyanur College
On January 13, 2025, a team of 12 students and their coordinator from Bhoomitra Sena, Payyanur College, visited the Material Collection Facility (MCF) of Kunhimangalam Panchayath to gather information on waste management practices. During the visit, the team collected details on the facility's operations, including waste segregation, collection, and disposal methods. They also observed the various processes involved in converting organic waste into compost and learned about the challenges faced by the facility in managing waste effectively. The visit provided valuable insights into the functioning of a decentralized waste management system and enabled the students to understand the importance of proper waste management in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
