One-Day Workshop on Skill Development in Horticultural techniques and Organic farming at KURIAKOSE ELIAS COLLEGE,MANNANAM


On 25th October 2024, the Bhoomithrasena Club of KE College conducted a one-day skill development workshop on horticultural techniques and organic farming, with the objective of equipping students with various agri-entrepreneurship skills. The workshop featured Mr. Vinod Vocational Instructor in Agriculture, GVHSS, Kumarakom as the resource person, who shared his expertise with the participants.

The workshop focused on providing hands-on training in different techniques, including budding, grafting, and the preparation of potting mixtures, biofertilizers, and biopesticides. Through this practical training, students gained a deeper understanding of the principles and methods involved in horticulture and organic farming. The workshop also covered topics such as soil conservation, composting, and integrated pest management, highlighting the importance of sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, the participants were introduced to various organic farming methods, including the use of natural pest control agents and the importance of crop rotation. The workshop aimed to inspire students to explore opportunities in agri-entrepreneurship and contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices.

By imparting these skills, the Bhoomithrasena Club seeks to empower students to become environmentally conscious and responsible citizens, capable of making a positive impact in their communities. Furthermore, the workshop encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives and to promote sustainable agriculture among their peers. The event was a resounding success, with students expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from an experienced expert in the field.
