Nature Camp at Aaralam Wildlife Sanctuary at Pazhassi Raja N.S.S.College Mattanur
Bhoomithrasena Club organized a one day Nature camp to Aralam Wildlife sanctuary. Aralam wildlife sanctuary is the only one wild life sanctuary in kannur. 60-70 km far from kannur city and there is farm adjacent to Aralam wild life sanctuary. December is the best time to visit because in these period you get chance to see butterfly migration.Due to specifics of the geography and vegetation it breeds close to 327 species of butterflies . 46 students of various departments and 3 teachers participated in the programme. Students had a chance to explore different lichens , mushrooms and wide variety of trees . The place is known for its diverse flora and fauna. Malabar Giant squirrel was noted there.The Malabar giant squirrel, renowned for its striking reddish fur and acrobatic leaps, is the star attraction of the sanctuary The aesthetic beauty of Cheenganni Puzha , Narikkadavu thodu and Meenmutti thodu gave a rejuvenating experience. Unpolluted forest could visibly see public department putting lot of efforts to conserve nature and wild life.
