Bhoomitrasena Club in the college ( Code No: 107/EKM/05/10 ), formed with support from Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala, aims at grooming environmentally conscious and socially responsive young women who will value the bounties of nature and strive to preserve them. The green activities of the college have also won accolades winning the second best BMC club in central Kerala from the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Govt of Kerala in 2012, Suchitwa Haritha award instituted by Mithradam and Rajagiri outreach in 2015-16, Paristhithi Mithra award instituted by CEERD, St. Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor in 2016 and 2020, best Bhoomitra Sena Club award amongst the colleges in central Kerala for the year 2016-17 from the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala and the best environment project award instituted by World Malayalee Council in 2019.

Activities

  • To celebrate Foundress’ Day by fostering community welfare through large-scale food distribution while upholding the college’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The initiative aimed to promote responsible event management by minimizing waste, encouraging eco-friendly practices, and reinforcing social responsibility among students and faculty.
  • The National Farmer’s Day Celebration aimed to raise awareness about the significance of organic farming while honoring the invaluable contributions of farmers to society. The program sought to promote sustainable agricultural practices and inspire appreciation for the role of farmers in ensuring food security and environmental stewardship.
  • The session aimed to officially initiate the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase for the Public Green Open Space Use-Case.
  • The Hands-on Training on Microgreen Cultivation aimed to equip participants with practical skills in sustainable agriculture by introducing them to the techniques of microgreen cultivation. The program focused on fostering self-sufficiency in food production while promoting eco-friendly farming practices, aligning with the slogan, “Get ready to grow the greens!”
  • The HEAL TOMORROW – BMC Field Visit aimed to educate school students on environmental sustainability, with a special focus on plastic waste management, while also strengthening the HEAL Clubs formed as part of the YouKAN HEAL project. Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, the program sought to empower young learners to adopt eco-friendly practices, reduce plastic usage, and take an active role in promoting sustainability within their schools and communities.
