Bhoomithrasena club of St. Antony's HSS Poonjar is an army of nature lovers who stands for and strives for nature. The primary aim is to make students practice and advocate sustainable life styles. The club also provides awareness on global environmental challenges and developing means to overcome the problems.

Activities

  • The program aims to provide students with practical training in various science projects and hydroponics, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to implement innovative ideas. Through expert guidance, students will gain hands-on experience in project development and hydroponic planting techniques. The program seeks to blend fun and education, fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, while encouraging students to explore new possibilities in science and sustainability.
  • The program aims to provide students with an immersive learning experience about the significance of nature through a field visit to Vanasthali at Pathampuzha. Students explore various trees and plants, learning about their names, importance, and uses. The visit focuses on educating students about different varieties of medicinal plants and their applications. The program seeks to inspire students to appreciate nature, understand the role of plants in ecosystems, and promote the importance of biodiversity conservation.
  • The program aimed to assess the efficiency and capabilities of the Material Collection Facilities (MCF) in selected panchayats. By conducting a thorough audit, the initiative sought to evaluate whether these facilities had the necessary infrastructure and resources for effective waste management. Another key objective was to identify gaps and areas for improvement in waste collection, segregation, and processing. This evaluation will help in understanding the strengths and limitations of the existing system, ensuring that necessary upgrades and interventions could be recommended. Ultimately, the program aimed to contribute to the development of a more efficient and sustainable waste management system, promoting environmental responsibility at the grassroots level.
  • To create awareness among Bhoomithrasena Club students about the significance of environmental conservation and ecosystem preservation. The session, led by environmental activist Shri. Abey Emmanuel Poondikulam at Aruvikkachal Waterfalls, aimed to educate students on the importance of maintaining a clean and well-organized environment. The program sought to inspire proactive environmental responsibility and encourage sustainable practices for the protection of natural resources.
  • To create awareness among students about the importance of waste management and environmental sustainability by actively participating in campus cleaning. The program aimed to instill a sense of responsibility by sorting plastic waste from other debris and ensuring proper disposal through Harithakarma Sena. Conducted as part of the Malinyamuktham Navakeralam Campaign, this initiative encouraged students to contribute to a cleaner and greener campus while promoting sustainable practices.
